Program Description
Time To Know is a blended approach in which students use one-to-one laptops with interactive curriculum. In math, teachers open each lesson with digital animations, followed by class discussion. Students work on their laptops to perform guided experiments, which they then post in a class digital gallery to be discussed by the class. Teachers receive extensive professional development and on-site coaching to integrate their teaching with the digital tools and modify them as needed.
Program Outcomes
One study of Time To Know took place in a district near Dallas. Two schools using Time To Know in math and reading were compared to two control schools. On Texas state tests, Time To Know students gained more than control students in both subjects. The effect size for math was +0.31. This qualifies Time To Know for the ESSA “Promising” category for math.
