Program Description
Imagine Math by Imagine Learning is a digital supplemental mathematics learning solution designed to support Pre-Kindergarten through Geometry students of all backgrounds. The program provides adaptive and developmentally appropriate instruction that focuses on building students’ conceptual understanding of mathematics. To supplement and enhance digital lessons, scaffolded, rigorous instruction by live, certified teachers is available on-demand to ensure that every student receives timely assistance as needed.
Program Outcomes
Imagine Math was evaluated in two studies that met Promising evidence. One retrospective study examined K–8 students in 16 schools in a charter network in Florida and North Carolina during the 2020–2021 school year. The treatment group consisted of 9,015 students who logged any usage of Imagine Math and were matched with an equal number of non-users from the same network. Students using Imagine Math scored significantly higher than comparison students on the NWEA MAP Growth Math assessment (effect size = +0.08).
A second quasi-experimental study examined Imagine Math during the 2023–2024 school year in two public school districts in Indiana and Texas. The analytic sample included 8,379 students in grades 1–8 with fall and spring NWEA MAP Growth Math scores. Students who logged any usage of Imagine Math were matched with non-users in the same districts. In Indiana, a statistically significant positive effect was found for students in grades 3–5 (effect size = +0.13). Effects for other grade bands and for students in Texas were not statistically significant.
Across the two studies, the weighted average effect size was +0.06.
Staffing Requirements
No additional staffing is required. The program is typically implemented by students’ mathematics teachers, mathematics specialists, or lab instructors; these educators are responsible for monitoring student engagement with individualized learning paths and tracking reports within the Imagine Math program that provide data on student progress and growth.
Professional Development/Training
In addition to support from the Customer Success team, Imagine Learning offers various optional virtual or on-site professional development and training opportunities for administrators and educators. Sessions for administrators focus on how to lead with success, tailoring conversations to fit each school’s implementation model and goals. Sessions for educators include workshops on getting started with Imagine Math, making use of Imagine Math’s various reports and other features, and how to provide targeted support for individual students.
Technology
The program requires networked computers or tablets, headsets, and access to the Imagine Math instructional content. System requirements can be found here.
