Program Description
Edpuzzle is an interactive learning platform that transforms how educators deliver video-based instruction by turning passive viewing into active learning experiences. The platform enables teachers to make content – including videos, slides, and quizzes – interactive by weaving in questions, commentary, and engaging elements at precise moments throughout the material, or quickly choose ready-to-go standards-aligned content.
Teachers have access to customization tools that let them edit their assignments to fit their specific needs, such as adding audio notes or strategically placing different question types like multiple-choice or open-ended prompts. Edpuzzle Originals are ready-made, professionally-developed lessons that align with Common Core standards while still allowing teachers to adapt the lessons to their unique classroom requirements.
Edpuzzle provides comprehensive insight into student learning as well. Educators can see exactly how students interact with content by tracking viewing habits, identifying where students struggle, and measuring comprehension through embedded assessments. This data-driven approach supports differentiation and personalized instruction.
Edpuzzle is compatible with the flipped classroom model, distance learning, and traditional face-to-face instruction. Teachers can integrate Edpuzzle with existing learning management systems for assigning and grading. Whether used to support elementary math concepts, high school literature analysis, or many other instructional contexts, Edpuzzle can be incorporated by educators as a tool to present content and activities across a range of grade levels and subject areas, allowing teachers to adapt its use based on students’ needs and instructional goals.
Program Outcomes
A randomized study examined the impact of Edpuzzle Original math videos on mathematics achievement among students in grades 3–5 in a rural California district. The analytic sample included 1,843 students across eight elementary schools. Students in schools assigned to use Edpuzzle Original math videos scored higher on the Spring 2025 CAASPP mathematics assessment than students in control schools (effect size = +0.09). Students also scored higher on the Renaissance Star Math assessment (effect size = +0.11) and demonstrated greater growth from fall to spring. Results qualify Edpuzzle for a Promising rating.
Additional analyses indicated a positive dosage relationship. Students assigned 30 or more videos showed larger gains than control students, and students assigned more than 50 videos demonstrated the strongest outcomes.
Because random assignment occurred at the school level and analyses were conducted at the student level, this study qualifies for a Promising evidence rating.
Staffing Requirements
No additional staff is required to use Edpuzzle. Edpuzzle’s platform allows schools and districts to manage their own usage, and Edpuzzle training courses are available through Edpuzzle Professional.
Professional Development/Training
Edpuzzle offers educators access to self-paced resources for professional development. Districts interested in further enhancing usage can opt for additional training and support. Available options include live, in-person trainings, live webinars, and self-paced modules for those new to Edpuzzle and those aiming to deepen its impact in their classrooms. Many of these resources are available through Edpuzzle’s additional product, Edpuzzle Professional, which also includes a comprehensive training library to support educators.
Technology
Edpuzzle is available via web browser, and a phone/tablet application for students is supported by iOS and Android.
Students and educators can access Edpuzzle via Windows, Mac OS, Chromebooks, iPads/Tablets, and cellular devices. Supported browsers include Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and more.
Edpuzzle also has LMS integrations with Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, Schoology, Canvas, and more to make it easier than ever to create and grade Edpuzzle assignments.
