Program Description
Coursemojo is an AI-powered teaching and learning platform designed specifically for English Language Arts instruction. The platform serves as an intelligent assistant (named Mojo) that works alongside classroom teachers to provide individualized support to every student while maintaining the collaborative, social nature of classroom learning. Rather than replacing traditional instruction, Coursemojo is designed to “supercharge the work that is already happening in classrooms” through seamless integration with existing curricula and teaching practices.
Program Outcomes
Two studies evaluated the impact of Coursemojo on middle school English language arts achievement.
A quasi-experimental study in a large Tennessee district during the 2024–25 school year included 2,045 sixth-grade students across twelve schools. The Coursemojo sample was 19% Black, 18% Hispanic/Latino, 5% English learners, 19% special education, and 40% economically disadvantaged. Coursemojo students showed stronger ELA performance, scoring 8 points higher on the TCAP exam (effect size = +0.12) and outperforming comparison students on spring Aimsweb (effect size = +0.10) and TN Ready benchmarks (effect size = +0.04). Students with disabilities narrowed the achievement gap with general education peers from 16 to 5 points, and economically disadvantaged students reduced their gap by more than half. Stronger outcomes were associated with more consistent use (2.5+ days per week).
A second quasi-experimental study in a large Texas district during the 2024–25 school year included over 3,000 sixth-grade students across twelve middle schools. Coursemojo students scored significantly higher on the STAAR reading assessment (effect size = +0.11), with 68% meeting the state passing benchmark compared with 59% of comparison students. Students using Coursemojo also showed positive differences on the NWEA MAP reading (effect size = +0.16).
Together, these findings indicate positive impacts on English language arts achievement, qualifying Coursemojo for a Moderate evidence rating.

Coursemojo provides pre-launch training and implementation support throughout the year as needed.
